HOW CAN WE AT ONCE ENRICH OUR LIVES AND HONOR NATURE?

WHAT THINGS NURTURE OUR AWARENESS OF THE DEEP CONNECTION WE ALL HAVE WITH THE NATURAL WORLD?

HOW CAN WE DO MORE WITH LESS?

Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center exists to explore these questions.  Constructed by dedicated and ambitious volunteers from 1973 to 1977, the Center was designed to embrace and blend into Nature... both visually and ecologically.  It was envisioned to serve as a beautiful and comfortable gathering space where people could learn and journey together toward a joyful and responsible relationship with the natural world.

Over the years, the UHEAC has been a place of retreat, celebration and shared learning.  Our belief is that everyone has something valuable to offer, something unique to share... and also something to learn.  To this end, we offer a broad spectrum of presentations, events & workshops that at once serve to enrich the individual, the community and the world.  Eclectic yet integrative, our programs range from the study of ecology, sustainability and renewable energy to explorations of the healing arts and the teachings of indigenous peoples.  Binding together these diverse subjects is the spirit of interconnection between ourselves, our actions, and the natural world.

Throughout the years, the UHEAC has been a host to some of the world's most gifted teachers, including Buckminster Fuller, Helen Nearing, Thomas Berry, Starhawk, Bernie Siegel, Joanna Macy, Matthew Fox, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, Wallace Black Elk, Ram Dass, Thomas Moore, Amory Lovins and more.  The Center also serves the community in which it exists, offering a nurturing environment for local and regional teachers to share their gifts with their community.

But the creation is not complete, for this is an evolving process.  As we respond to the land, to a changing world & changing technology... as we respond to our inner truths and to each other, we find that this building, as well as our awareness and activities, also changes and deepens...  As long as our world continues to grow and evolve, so will this place.

The gifts of all are appreciated and needed as we join together in the renewal of ourselves, this place, and the planet.

The gift of enthusiasm and vision, skills or interests, effort or donations are all valued and important.
